OBC is involved in China through the Harris family, who have a particular interest in an organisation called International China Concern. ICC seeks to be the hands and feet of Jesus by providing love, hope and opportunity to China's disabled children. Based in two cities in Hunan Province, South China, ICC currently has 240 abandoned and disabled children in its care, daily providing food, shelter, therapy, education and much needed attention and love. As a family, the Harrises have become more involved in the work of ICC in the past few years. Richard is now Chairman of the International Committee, while Helen, Chloe and Imogen have helped with fund-raising, taking teams to China, helped with summer camps, dispensing hugs and praying for the children, who have clearly touched their hearts. One description of God is that He is the 'father of the fatherless'(Psalm 68, 5) ICC sees its role as bringing this father heart of God to these children in practical and life transforming ways. If you would like to know more about ICC, particularly if you would like to pray, give (through child sponsorship, for example) or actually go (join a short term team) then please contact the Harrises or visit the website: www.chinaconcern.org |
