In a rapidly growing church, small groups form the context in which people can feel cared for and loved, where problems and encouragements are shared, where friendships are forged and faith is nurtured. Some groups, like Alpha are geared to enquirers. Others, like 'Freedom in Christ', are designed for those who already have a faith. Some are specific in their aim, like the marriage and parenting courses and run for a set number of weeks. Others, like 'Home Groups' are more general and on-going. The Art and Craft group meet once a month, primarily to have fun together in a creative way. The Men's Breakfast meets on the first Saturday of each month and offers a hugely varied programme of activities. OBC believes in Small Groups, and sees them as a vital way in which church members engage with each other and reach out to others with the friendship that is in Christ. |
